Studio Q provided full design consultation services to a partner firm on the Schematic and Design Development phases for phase 1 of the Lawn Hill Terrace Project. Currently, the 40 year old brick and vinyl sided structures, have low sloped roofs and exaggerated deep overhangs. Poorly designed outdoor space include unsafe, unwelcoming vast areas of Bituminous paving and concrete. The restoration of both the interior and exterior of these structures changed the massing and pitch of the roofs, cut back and articulated the overhangs, added a new colonial rhythm to the fenestration with an approachable scale. The addition of planters signage and stamped concrete as well as new landscaping defines each quadrangle as a “safe” neighborhood where homeowners and tenants take ownership in there identifiable community.
